Volleyball enthusiasts in southern Manitoba have something to look forward to as the Winkler Bandits 18U volleyball team kicks off their upcoming season. The team, which brings together talented players from across the region, is ready to welcome new faces with tryouts scheduled for December.

“Club volleyball is an amazing opportunity for players to compete at a higher level outside of the school season,” explained head coach Nicole Guenther. “It’s not just about the sport—it’s about meeting new people, growing as athletes, and having fun.”

Guns n' Hoses hockey game returns to Morden in support of Christmas Cheer

The much-anticipated Guns and Hoses charity hockey game returns to Morden this Friday, pitting the Morden Thunder hockey team against the city's police officers and firefighters. The annual event, held at the Access Event Centre, promises an evening of fun, friendly competition, and community spirit—all in support of the Morden Christmas Cheer Board.

Candlewick is set to bring a fresh take on the beloved holiday classic It's a Wonderful Life, and the production promises to evoke the same heartwarming emotions that have made the film a holiday staple since its release in 1946. The cast includes Quentin Stoesz, who plays the iconic role of George Bailey, and Hannah Franz, who takes on the role of Aunt Millie (formerly Uncle Billy in the original), along with assisting with direction and stage management.

The holiday spirit is in full swing as local baker Jen Chapman leads a heartfelt fundraiser titled "Baking Spirits Bright" to benefit Ancla de Amor, an orphanage in Mexico. The initiative combines Chapman’s passion for baking with her deep connection to the ministry, which was founded by her brother, Brian.

“I’m just a home baker who loves to bake,” shared Chapman. “My brother and his family started Ancla de Amor, so it’s pretty near and dear to my heart. This bake sale felt like a way I could help.”

Gateway Resources Christmas concert: A heartwarming celebration of music and community

The Christmas season has arrived, and Gateway Resources is gearing up for its annual Christmas concert, bringing the community together to celebrate the spirit of the season.
