Ride for Refuge set to support transitional housing in the Pembina Valley on October 5th

Genesis House, a non-profit organization in the Pembina Valley, is gearing up to participate in the Ride for Refuge on October 5th. The nationwide fundraiser will support shelters and programs across Canada, with Genesis House focusing on raising funds for its transitional housing project for survivors of domestic violence and abuse.

Local youth groups in the Pembina Valley are coming together for the FCC Drive Away Hunger Campaign, collecting food donations to support families facing food insecurity. Multiple churches are participating, highlighting the power of community action, especially ahead of Thanksgiving.

Zeb Klassen, a youth participant from Bethel Church, expressed his appreciation for the initiative: “It’s comforting to know there are people like our youth pastors who are here for us and the community.”

Among the many participants are first-time vendors, sisters Aliya and Anika Epp, with their slime creations, and seasoned exhibitor Alex Peters, known for his intricate 3D-printed collectibles.

Katie Cares, the nonprofit founded by Ruth and Randy Reimer in honor of their daughter Katie, has grown from a heartfelt dream into a vital support system for families across Manitoba. What began as a deeply personal mission now touches countless lives, thanks to community backing through initiatives like the annual fashion show and auction.

The Morden Pop Culture Expo is set to captivate fans of all ages with a weekend packed full of nostalgia, collectibles, tournaments, and food. Organized by Trent Medinsky, the event has grown in scale and promises to be bigger than ever. Best of all, it’s completely free to attend.

A Larger Venue, A Bigger Event

The Pembina Valley Pregnancy Care Center (PVPCC) is taking an innovative approach to raise funds for its vital services with the “Get the Board Moving” challenge. Running from September 15th to October 15th, this initiative involves the nonprofit’s board members exercising for every dollar donated, with the goal of raising much-needed support for their growing client base.

Saturday September 21st, 2024, Pembina Counselling Centre will be launching the inaugural "N49 Cruise for Hope".  The event, which features a scenic car cruise, dinner, and a drive-in movie, is about more than just fun—it’s helping to support a mental health organization that has seen tremendous growth and increasing demand for its services.
