Manitoba Canola Growers release 2024 variety trial results

Farmers across Manitoba and the prairies can now access the results of the 2024 Canola Variety Evaluation Trials, a critical resource for making informed seed selection decisions. Spearheaded by the Manitoba Canola Growers Association (MCGA), this program marks the first year of province-specific program following the discontinuation of the Prairie-wide Canola Performance Trials in 2022.

Sports Round-Up: Tuesday, November 19

The Moose Jaw Warriors will be facing off against the Saskatoon Blades at the Moose Jaw Events Centre this Thursday.

The Winmar AAA Warriors find themselves near the top of the Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League after a pair of wins over the Kinsmen Maulers in Yorkton on the weekend. They won both games by scores of 7-1. The Winmar Warriors now 12-2-11 on the season and just two points behind the Regina Pat Canadians and it's those two teams going head-to-head at the Moose Jaw Events Centre this coming Saturday - game time 1:30. 

New city council officially sworn in

During a special city council meeting on Monday night, Moose Jaw's newest city council was officially sworn in.

The meeting was opened by city clerk Tracy Wittke and started with James Murdock taking the oath of office to become the city's 42nd mayor. He was presented the Chain of Office by city manager Maryse Carmichael.

The six city councillors were then sworn in by taking the oath of office. The mayor and councillors were sworn in by Judge Brian Hendrickson.

Moose Jaw's new mayor outlines his future vision in inaugural address

Newly-elected mayor of Moose Jaw, James Murdock, addressed city council for the first time on Monday night during their inaugural meeting since last week’s civic election. 

Murdock started his address by emphasizing the importance of the right to vote, calling it our most fundamental democratic right. 

He expressed his gratitude to the 8,606 residents who voted, acknowledging their role in shaping the city’s future. 

UPDATE: Eastbound lane now open on Highway 1 west of Belle Plaine following semi jackknife

UPDATE 7:50 a.m.: The Highway Hotline now shows that both eastbound lanes are open in Highway 1.

The Highway Hotline is reporting a collision in the eastbound lane of Highway 1, 4 km west of Belle Plaine this morning. 

When does your tree go up?

Over the weekend, I heard many friends and family started to put up their Christmas trees and I thought I'd do the same.

So on Monday, I wondered when everyone else put up their Christmas tree. That question was for listeners of the Country 100 afternoon show, brought to you by Ashdowns Furniture & Interiors.
