The Moose Jaw Warriors are facing off against the Swift Current Broncos at the Moose Jaw Events Centre tonight.

The Winmar AAA Warriors are off to Prince Albert to play a pair of games against the Mintos this weekend - Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.

RCMP seek two men in relation to death of Coronach man

A man from Coronach, who was located deceased on White Bear First Nation by RCMP on Tuesday morning after they received reports of an injured individual at a residence, has been identified as 33-year-old Talon Lonethunder. 

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes have charged and are looking for two men in relation to Lonethunder’s death, including 22-year-old Jeremy Whitebear, charged with one count of second degree murder, and 26-year-old Dwayne Maxie, charged with one count of manslaughter. 

RCMP continue investigation into death of Coronach man

RCMP continue to investigate after a 33-year-old man from Coronach was found dead on Tuesday at a residence on White Bear First Nation.

The individual was found just after 2:30 a.m., and RCMP say his death is considered suspicious.

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes took the investigation over from Carlyle RCMP, and on Thursday morning, RCMP said that the increased police presence on White Bear First Nation will continue.

They added that any imminent risk to public safety will be communicated to the public. 

346 artifacts donated to Moose Jaw Museum & Art Gallery last year

The Moose Jaw Museum & Art Gallery (MJMAG) has an annual reach of 32,000 visitors, with 10,000 people taking part in programming every year. 

Jennifer McRorie, curator and director at the Moose Jaw Museum & Art Gallery, recently shared those statistics when talking about what the gallery has been up to. 

McRorie added that they engage 4000 students annually at the MJMAG, with some examples of this engagement in 2024 including:

The Swift Current Legionnaires came into Moose Jaw and beat the Winmar AAA Warriors 4-3 in overtime last night. Wesley Olson tied it up late in the 3rd period AND scored the OT winner. 

Carson Deichert, Ryan Gibbs and Jonah Pinel scored the goals for Moose Jaw. The Legionnaires are now in a tie for 2nd place with Moose Jaw.

The AAAs head to Prince Albert to play two against the Mintos this weekend.

With 500 acres of park land and 20 kilometres of trails, Moose Jaw’s Wakamow Valley offers plenty of space for locals and visitors alike to enjoy the outdoors.  

Donna MacQuarrie-Bye, general manager of Wakamow Valley Authority, spoke about highlights for the valley in 2024, including the completion of their 3-year strategic plan back in April. 

“Through this process, it gave the organization the ability to develop and strengthen relationships with other nonprofits, which will assist with program development for 2025.” 

Sports Round-Up: Wednesday, December 4

The Moose Jaw Warriors fell 5-3 to the Hurricanes in Lethbridge last night, with former Moose Jaw Warrior Brayden Yager getting his first goal for his new team on an empty net with one second on the clock. And former Warriors' goalie Jackson Unger got the win in the nets, stopping 18 of 21 shots.

The Warriors are back on home ice this Friday at the Moose Jaw Events Centre as they host Swift Current.

Sports Round-Up: Tuesday, December 3

It was a blockbuster trade yesterday as the Moose Jaw Warriors sent captain Brayden Yager and goalie Jackson Unger to the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

In exchange, the Warriors got three players and 6 draft picks, including two first-round selections - one next spring and another in 2028. The players coming to Moose Jaw are 18-year-old forward Landen Ward, 19-year-old goaltender Brady Smith, and 15-year-old prospect Colt Carter.

Mickleborough procedural conference call happening today

Today will see former Moose Jaw Superintendent Taylor Mickleborough attending a Saskatchewan Police Commission procedural conference call starting at 9:30 a.m.

In October, Police Chief Rick Bourassa said that Mickleborough had been dismissed from the local police force under Section 60 of the Police Act, 1990. Bourassa provided no other details on the reason for the dismissal and indicated that he would not do so outside of the hearing process.
