Gail Morton

It is with heavy hearts that we share that Gail Morton had suddenly passed away November 12, 2022 at home with her loving husband by her side. She was so strong and determined to come home to be with her husband after being in hospital for weeks fighting a battle to keep breathing.

She was born in Kenora, Ontario September 4, 1952 to Gladys and Ed Bays. Married the love of her life September 14, 1974.

Peter Alexander Burns died at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center on November 15, 2022 with his family by his side, after a short and complicated illness. He was born on May 7, 1935 to Marjorie Hogg Burns and James Peter Burns in Kirkland Lake, Ontario.

Arlene Redsky

With family close at hand and heart, Arlene Redsky an Administrator of Ontario Works in Shoal Lake #40, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2022, at Lake of the Woods Hospital, at the age of 58 years.

Alan 'Esky' Demontigny

It is with broken hearts that the family of Alan Demontigny announces his unexpected passing on Monday October 10, 2022 at Lake of the Woods Hospital. 

Esky was born on July 5, 1956 in Russell, Manitoba to parents Anne Demontigny and Frank Demontigny. Alan was one of the younger kids in his family of 9 siblings. He was a father of two and a proud member of Gambler First Nation. Alan loved life in Kenora, he belonged close to the water. 

Richard Kundel

It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather Richard Kundel on October 26, 2022 at the age of 81.

He was predeceased by his parents, Alex, Minnie and brothers Ralph and Ray.

He leaves to mourn, his wife Lynne of 47 years, daughter Donna (Andrew), grandchildren Hayden, Calum and Cailey.

Richard was born and raised in Winnipeg’s north end.  He was employed with Green Giant/Pillsbury for 35 years.

He was predeceased by his mother Elizabeth Land, brother Calamy Land, sister Laverna Land and grandparents John Robert Boyd Sr., Emma Wawence, Thomas Land Sr., Leah Land, uncles John Boyd, Kenneth Wawence, nephews Baby Cloud and White Little Eagle, cousins Elva McDonald, Reuben Hunter, Juliette Hunter, Keith Scott, Orvil Scott, Emma Muckle, Ernestine Muckle and Rose Boyd.

1931 – 2022

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of our wife, mother, nana and great-grandmother on Sunday, November 6, 2022 in Kenora, Ontario.

Mom was born in Kenora, on June 1, 1931 and attended the local Catholic School, as well as Kenora-Keewatin District High School.  It was here that mom met, and then married Gordon, her high school sweetheart on March 15, 1950.  Together, they celebrated the 72nd wedding anniversary, raised three children, and remained inseparable to the end.

Joanne Patricia Merle Zeemel

Unexpectedly on October 27th, Joanne Patricia Merle Zeemel (nee Puhach) passed away at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital.  She is predeceased by her Mother Frances Puhach (nee Kantor), Father John Puhach and her Husband John Zeemel. She is survived by her sister Connie (Jim) Adlington, Daughters Pamela Loeb and Jennifer (Marco) Vogrig along with her grandchildren Lauren (Peter), RJ, Mason and Ashley and many nieces and nephews.
