Robert “Robbie / Bob” Earl PAYNE

1957 - 2023

After a lengthy illness with diabetes and a short battle with cancer, Bob passed away on Friday, 29 December, 2023 at the Portage General Hospital with family by his side.

Lloyd Litton passed peacefully in his sleep Tuesday, May 28th at the Lion’s Prairie Manor in Portage la Prairie at the age of 87. Dad farmed for many years in the Overhill District south of Portage. He was no stranger to hard work as he usually worked from sunup to sundown on his mixed grain, hay and cattle farm.

With broken hearts, the family announces the peaceful passing of Brian Ward, 67, on Friday, May 17th, 2024, on D4 at the Health Sciences Centre. The family wishes to thank Dr. J. Ziegler, Tristan (resident) and nurse Abby for the thoughtful care Brian received during his transition from this world. We would also like to express gratitude to Jesse Allard at Ronald Moffit Memorial Services for his compassion during Brian’s final journey.

It is with great sadness that we announce that Evelyn Kaminski fell asleep in death early Saturday morning, May 12th, 2024 at Portage General Hospital at the age of 86.

Evelyn was born June 23rd, 1937 in North Battleford, SK. to Ernie and Mary (nee Cimmerer) Dubois. She was raised in St. Claude, MB. Evelyn married Joe Kaminski in 1967 and they were one month away from their 50th anniversary when Joe died in 2017. They lived in Winnipeg, St. Claude, Treherne, Carman, and finally Portage la Prairie, MB.

Bernice Helen Rodgers (nee Dolejsi), age 87, of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, passed away peacefully to be with her Saviour on April 25th, 2024.

Bernice was born on April 26th, 1936, in Zeneta, Saskatchewan, a middle child of eight born to Wendell and Ethel Dolejsi. Shortly after her birth, the family relocated to Manitoba, eventually settling in MacGregor.

Garry Laverne Thurston

1940-2024

Peacefully on March 9th, 2024, Garry Laverne Thurston passed away at the age of 83, at the Lions Prairie Manor with family by his side.

Marianne Jean Abbors

1941-2024

Marianne Jean Abbors (nee Connon) was born July 8, 1941 at 5:45 am in St. Boniface Hospital. That plump little dark-haired girl, weighing 5 lbs. 11 oz, peacefully left this life on March 6, 2024 in Portage General Hospital at 82 years.

Marianne spent her formative years in Winnipeg, MB.
On November 29, 1957, when Roland Anthony Abbors of Vancouver, BC gave her a ring, she stated she was floating on a cloud. On June 23, 1958 they married.

Thomas Daniel Horodecki
January 26, 1952 – March 7th, 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of Tom Horodecki, on March 7th at the age of 72 years.

Tom is predeceased by his parents, Joan and Steve Horodecki and sister Jeanette Horodecki. He is survived by his sisters Irene Allingham (Colin) and Patricia Horodecki and his brothers Frankie and Steve Horodecki (Linda) as well as a niece and nephews. He is also survived by his extended family at Kin Glen Home and special friend Tammy Johnson.

Margaret “Rita“ Klassen
1931 – 2024

Margaret “Rita” Klassen nee Epp of Portage la Prairie passed away and went home to her Saviour, on February 22nd, 2024. She was 92 years old.

It is with a mixture of sorrow and rejoicing that we announce that Eileen Patricia Warthe is home in the presence of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. She entered His presence February 21st, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer.
