The Moosmin RCMP along with the Saskatchewan RCMP Livestock Investigator tracked down and caught a cattle thief after some suspicious sales.

On June 28, a Saskatchewan RCMP Livestock Investigator received a report from Livestock Services of Saskatchewan (LSS) about a potential suspicious livestock transaction. The Moosomin RCMP began investigating with the assistance of the Saskatchewan RCMP Livestock Investigator.

Temperatures are expected to heat up significantly next week getting well into extreme heat criteria.

The beginning of that heat will be relatively normal, with a few days hanging around our current temperature.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Brian Proctor says those temperatures are spiking rapidly in the middle of the week.

The Bow Valley south of Oxbow is a wonderful spot for camping, music and family time. I took this photo on a calm day as I was passing by it. The wind was so calm the river was like glass, you can actually flip the photo upside down and it still looks good. The only difference is the camper and car are on the right side of the picture.

Once the photo was taken, I had to pop in and spend some time in the park. So peaceful and relaxing, I may have even had a little snooze in the shade of the trees.

It was a perfect day for a round of golf at the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Club yesterday for the Networking on the Green event hosted by the Estevan Chamber of Commerce. Over 90 golfers showed up to hit the links and collaborate with other businesses in the southeast. 

Warmer and drier conditions over the past week have kept producers in the Southeast busy with haying operations and spraying fungicides, according to the latest crop report released by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture.

Limited rainfall was seen throughout the region over the past week, except for a few smaller areas. The highest amount was recorded in the Saltcoats area at 19 mm. The Alida and Carnduff areas both received 15 mm, while the Ituna area received 13 mm. Areas within the Southeast need rain to support continued crop development.

The summertime offers many different uses for fire. Smaller fires like fire pits and barbeques as well as larger fires like burning fields or old structures all pose risks of spreading to your home when combined with hot and dry weather.  

Whenever a fire is lit, there are risks of stray embers catching in the wind and igniting other areas or structures. Lona Gervais with CAA gives tips on making your home more resistant to external fires.  

A storm system will be passing through the southeast this weekend, bringing some decent moisture to a few localized areas over the next couple of days.

With funnel clouds and hail storms dominating much of the summer so far, the possibility remains of another big storm that could cause damage in the southeast.

A global technology outage had grounded flights, disrupted hospitals and backed up border crossings in Canada on Friday, as reported issues persisted hours after the issues with Microsoft services were said to be getting fixed.

Cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike said that the issue believed to be behind the outage was not a security incident or cyberattack.  The issue affected Microsoft 365 apps and services, and escalating disruptions continued after the technology company said it was gradually fixing it.
