Vance ready for new start in Shaunavon
After some recent turmoil, Shaunavon is turning the page with a new mayor and six new councillors.
"If you see something that you can help on it," said new Shaunavon Mayor Cal Vance. "You just get out and do it."
Vance beat Drew Grainger by 66 votes to become mayor.

Mathies door knocked his way to third term in Herbert
After a grassroots campaign focused on communicating with constituents, Ron Mathies will serve four more years as Herbert's mayor.
"It's my third term and that gets pretty hard in today's age to win a third term," Mathies said. "I actually worked pretty hard at it, but we did end up winning and I'm happy. I hope to serve another four years and keep working and trying to improve our town."
Hahn returns for third term on school board
The push for more funding continues on the Chinook School Division Board.
Dianne Hahn returns for a third term as a Swift Current trustee on the board. She is continuing her focus on bringing their provincial funding in line with their needs.
"I really think that we need to advocate for sufficient funding," Hahn said. "There just needs to be fair and equitable funding. The other thing is I just really believe that every school needs to be a safe and welcoming environment for every student."
Maple Creek Election Results
Maple Creek has their town council in place to servce for the next four years.
Len Barkman, Betty Abbot, Corrine Collura, Leah Baratta, Tina Cresswell and Shane Wurtz will fill out the council table.
There were seven candidates for the six spots on council.
Barkman had the most votes with 283.
Mayor Michelle McKenzie was elected by acclamation.
RCMP arrest two while seizing 31 guns in Lafleche
Police seized 31 firearms and charged two people from Lafleche after a raid earlier this month.
On November 8th, Saskatchewan RCMP’s Swift Current Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team (STRT), Police Dog Services (PDS), Gravelbourg Detachment, National Weapons Enforcement Support Team (NWEST) and the Regina Police Service Crime Reduction Team executed search warrants at a residence in Lafleche and rural yard site near town as part of an ongoing investigation.
Wickstrom emerges from Tompkins mayoral election
Ethan Wickstrom won a three-way race to become the new mayor of Tompkins.
He had 50 votes to Tom Secord's 44 and Spirit Cool's 11.
Wickstrom replaces the outgoing Mayor Ken Best.
There were seven candidates for four positions on council.
Tyler Mackay was the top vote getter with 92, followed by Patty Sloan at 65, Terry Churchill at 60 and Linda Dodds at 55.
Cody Forsyth, Heather MacGregor and William Mitchell finished out of the race.
105 people cast their ballot in this year's election.
Dyck first female reeve for RM of Swift Current
Romona Dyck is the new reeve in the RM of Swift Current No 137.
Dyck had 242 votes to outgoing councillor Richard Kehler's 213 and Esther Wall's 56.
She is the first woman reeve and first woman to ever serve on the RM of Swift Current's council.
Dyck is joined on council by William Neufeld in Division 1, Donovan Campbell in Division 3 and Ky Hastings in Division 5.
All three were elected by acclamation and Campbell is an incumbent.
Protein Industries Canada partnering for improvement of plant-based cheese
Earlier this year, Protein Industries Canada announced a project and partnership with agriculture companies to help improve plant-based products including cheese. Partnering with Daiya Foods, Ingredion, Ingredion Plant Based Specialties (IPBPS) and Lovingly Made Flour Mills; the goal is to use Canadian grown crops such as peas and faba beans to help improve the taste, texture, and overall quality of plant-based cheese.
Long-time councillor Zanidean wins mayoral race in Gull Lake
A four-term town councillor in Gull Lake is now the town's mayor as of Thursday morning.
Nasser Zanidean obtained 212 votes beating another former councillor Dennis Kirk who received 144 votes.
"It was a tough go, I figured it was going to go either way," he said. "I honestly wasn't 100 per cent sure how it was going to turn out."
