Wheatland Elementary hosts Valentine's party for students and parents
There was no shortage of Valentine's Day-themed events at Wheatland Elementary School on Friday (Feb. 14).
From data graphing with candy hearts to making Valentine's for loved ones, every class in the school was doing something to celebrate the day of love.
Grade 1 teacher Leah Paul had her students host a class Valentine's party, with all parents and loved ones invited to join.
From a burger to longtime love, Carseland woman shares her Valentine's Day story
Love is in the air this Valentine's Day and that includes one Carseland woman and her family.
Jenn Cook lives in the area along with her family and her boyfriend.
Her Valentine's Day story goes all the way back to December 16, 1989, to when the couple met when they were teenagers.
She met her boyfriend Gerry at a house party in Inglewood in Calgary and also knew him through her brother as they were best friends.
Cook explained that a McDonald's burger is what sold her on her partner.
Propane truck rollover reported by nearby community
Airdrie RCMP is on the scene of a propane truck rollover.
According to a police news release, the incident happened on Range Road 13 between Township Road 264 and Highway 566.
Police said no injuries were reported and the area is now clear for traffic to move on Range Road 13.

Longtime Bow River MP Martin Shields has decided to hang up his hat and retire from politics.

The City of Chestermere has accepted interns into its land-use planner stream through the Municipal Internship Program.
According to a news release from the Alberta government, post-secondary graduates will be able to pursue experience in public service.
Canada still top of mind for Trump, 'not a good place to be'
As President Donald Trump signed an executive order for reciprocal tariffs on Thursday that escalates his trade threats, his administration took aim at Canada's digital services tax as a major trade irritant.
The White House sent out a document calling digital taxes in both Canada and France "unfair" for taxing American companies.
Speaking in the Oval Office Thursday afternoon, Trump slammed Canada on trade and singled out its low defence spending, saying the country is a "very serious contender to be our 51st state."
Saskatchewan hosting multiple webinars over winter and spring of 2025
Producers will be able to see a wide variety of webinars for agriculture practices as the province of Saskatchewan is hosting those through the winter and spring.
Those are set to begin next week, with Crops Extension SPecialist Meghan Rosso talking about what producers can expect.
Strathmore cancels Eagle Heights development
The Town of Strathmore has announced that the proposed Eagle Heights development has been cancelled.
"Following a review of the file, the Development Authority identified an error in the permitting process," wrote the town. "The proposed development application exceeded the maximum site area and density requirements set out in the Town’s Land Use Bylaw."
The town claims that a variance would have been required to allow the development, but it wasn't granted when the permit was issued.
Strathmore weighing options for Municipal Policing Committee
The Town of Strathmore is looking to create its own Municipal Policing Committee.
Back in 2022, the Police Amendment Act was updated, which brought changes to policing in Alberta. One of the changes involves all municipalities being required to establish policing committees.
Depending on the population, a Municipal Policing Committee or Regional Policing Committee may be created.
The plans to introduce a policing group were brought up to council.
