WestLake-Gladstone homeowner's dog killed by suspects in stolen vehicle

Two suspicious men trespassed on a rural property on Road 64 in the RM of WestLake-Gladstone.

Last night (Feb. 21), Spruce Plains RCMP were called and informed that a vehicle with two men had driven onto the property, who struck and killed the homeowner’s dog and the vehicle became  stuck in the ditch. One of the men went to the residence and asked for help to get the vehicle out of the ditch. The homeowners became suspicious and called police. One man left the residence.

The licence plate on the vehicle was checked and found to be stolen.

Preliminary procedures see WestLake -Gladstone on list for investigation of its operations & accounts

The Municipality of WestLake-Gladstone is yet again referenced about the investigation first recommended last year by order of the Auditor General. 

The Municipality first came to attention by way of its chief administration office coming under fire by "slanderous accusations" following a "cyber fraud" theft of about $450,000.

Thefts and break-and-enter in Highway #16 area

Several thousand dollars worth of tools were stolen from a building on Hwy 16, north of the Trans-Canada. It took place on Thursday, February 9th. The vehicle used in the theft was a pick-up with dual wheels. 

Two days later, on Highway 16, a break and enter was reported to be in progress several miles north of the junction of Highway #1 at 12:30 a.m. Suspects drove a stolen black Dodge Dually 3500 and were stealing fuel. The same vehicle was reported stolen on the 7th from a location on Highway #6 in the RM of Rosser. When police arrived, suspects had already fled.

Portager arrested for multiple weapons charges and breaking curfew

Portage la Prairie RCMP officers were at a residence on an unrelated matter when they came into contact with a man who was known to have a court-imposed curfew. It happened on Friday, February 10th. He lied about his identity, but officers recognized him and advised him to ensure he returned home before his curfew.

The next day at about 12:30 a.m., Portage RCMP attended his residence to ensure he was abiding by his conditions, and he was not home.

Passers-by rescue Thompson girl mauled by dogs

Large dogs chased down a 9-year-old girl in Thompson who was rescued by passers-by and taken to hospital. It took place on February 2 late in the afternoon. 

The girl received significant injuries but non-life threatening. The passersby dragged the youth away from the dogs and took her to her family when she was then taken to hospital. 

RCMP search for 3 suspects in Saskatchewan homicide

A homicide took place in Saskatchewan's rural area just south of Stockholm and Esterhazy on the morning of this past Friday, February 10. RCMP Major Crimes is investigating, and police are increasing police presence in the area over the next few days. 

Due to the severity and close proximity to Manitoba, RCMP have issued out the following information to our region.

Three suspects are involved. 

Suspect #1:

IIU clears MFNPS officer after alleged assault

The Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) has finished its investigation into an alleged assault by an on-duty Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) officer.

The incident occurred on August 16, of last year about a woman who was held in MFNPS cells and became aggressive. Force was used to secure her and she was cut on her head. She was then taken to Portage District General Hospital and was treated and then released back into custody.

Drive-by shooting at house in Dauphin early Tuesday morning

Shots were fired from a drive-by shooter in Dauphin this morning (Tuesday, Feb. 7) at 2:30 a.m. 

Police responded to a report of gunshots in the 200 block of 5th Avenue NE, in Dauphin.

Dauphin RCMP used Police Dog Services and arrived on the scene, and found several shots fired at a house and at three vehicles parked near the home. Several people were inside the home but none were injured.
