A 1978 Honda Express motorcycle was stolen from a property last week. It is described as lime green, and looks similar to a moped. 

A distinguishing feature is that it's missing its gas tank.

Constable Dallas Austin with the Weyburn Police Service said this is because the owner was in the process of restoring the motorcycle.

While the WPS is investigating the matter, they are asking for the public's assistance in locating it. 

The Canadian government has updated its travel advisory for the United Kingdom amid a rash of ongoing demonstrations. 

It says visitors should "exercise a high degree of caution" in the country and takes note of demonstrations and violent clashes between protesters and police over the past week. 

The travel advice cautions that even peaceful demonstrations can turn violent at any time and can deteriorate quickly.

North America is currently in a transitory period in terms of weather systems, with the timing of that transition likely to affect conditions for crops around the prairies.

That'll eventually change into a LaNinna system, which for our southern neighbours means that frosts could creep in early and disrupt harvest.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Natalie Hasell says that people in the Canadian prairies don't need to worry as much.

Special Olympics Weyburn received a Community Fund Grant from the Weyburn Credit Union in June for the purchase of some new bowling shirts.

After a very wet spring, July saw incredibly hot and dry conditions. Environment Canada meteorologist Natalie Hasell says the month of July typically sees 66 mL of precipitation; this year saw just over half with 37 mL. 

Hasell says the dry season is mainly accredited to an area of high pressure with high temperatures, and a cycle of dryness begetting more dryness.  

The Weyburn Humane Society is gearing up for its annual garage sale, this Thursday, August 8th, and Friday, August 9th.

Board member Clarissa Welsh said instead of at their usual venue, they'll be holding it at one of their volunteer's homes, located at 56 10th Street. 

"There's going to be lots of fun and cool stuff," she shared. "Everything's there by donation. Anything from furniture to knickknacks and maybe some gizmos."

Welsh said the funds go toward their general operating fund. 

The area is filled with beautiful wildlife, and the Weyburn Wildlife Federation (WWF) is helping families learn about it this summer with its first-ever Family Day on August 24th. 

The WWF's Youth Coordinator, Keyanna Swanson, says the event is affordable for any family because it is free. 

"There's going to be lunch available for purchase, but it is free. We just ask that people register so that we can make sure we have enough supplies and volunteers for everybody."

Special Olympics Weyburn has put out a call for a new influx of board members.

Community Manager Joanne Paxman said those who join the board won't be expected to coach athletes.

"They don't have to have been involved with Special Olympics at all, or have any knowledge," she explained. "It's just filling positions on the board. You might possibly not be working with athletes at all, but just volunteer coordinators or program coordinators or treasurer, like those kinds of positions that we need filled, and our publicity, marketing, social media."

The Weyburn Police Service in the early hours of last Monday responded to reports of an alarm going off at a large commercial building on the west side of the city.

"We went and checked out the property. There was no one there," shared Constable Dallas Austin. "Police kept a watch on the property from a distance and that's when we observed individuals walking back to the building." 

He said the officers who stayed back and watched then arrested and charged an individual with break-and-enter to the property, and possession of break-and-enter instruments.
