Two local minor football players were selected to play in province-wide showcase
Two Fort Sask Falcons were selected to play in this year's Football Alberta Bantam Showcase.
Mason Hillyard and Ashley McMaster were chosen to play in the showcase under the Edmonton Wildcats sponsored team.
Hillyard earned a starting spot at linebacker, helping their team win 22-2 against the Edmonton Huskies sponsored team.
Update: Unfolding police incident in St. Albert
Police were asking the public to avoid the northwest quadrant of St. Albert between Giroux Road and Ray Gibbon Drive on Friday afternoon (May 27).
According to the RCMP, the area was contained due to a man in distress.
The incident was reportedly in one apartment unit. No one was injured.
"There are no public safety issues at this time," the St. Albert RCMP said in a release.
Pedestrians were also not allowed in the area.

Four Fort Saskatchewan Rangers drafted into the WHL
Four U15 AAA Fort Saskatchewan Rangers have been drafted to the Western Hockey League (WHL).
Taylor Green, the WHL Manager of Hockey Operations, gave a little insight into each player's strengths.
The team's captain Kale Dach was drafted in the fifth round, 95th overall by the Calgary Hitmen.
City worker makes a family's day
A City of Fort Saskatchewan employee made a family's day.
Keith Hart was out and about on Wednesday (May 25) when he paid a visit to Corrine Hill's two children playing in the yard.
Anna and Aaron are currently homeschooled and take breaks during the school day to get some fresh air, this is when Keith pulled up and began chatting with them about the work he was doing.
He told them about the Fort Report program and encouraged them to report any issues they saw around the city.
Protein partnership creating new source of fertilizer
In an announcement earlier today, a partnership between Protein Industries Canada and a group of companies will be building a new plant to produce fertilizer from pea protein.
The plant is planned to produce 6,500 tons of fertilizer a year and will be creating 25 jobs, with the factory situated near Rosetown.
Soileos is made from pea, oat, and lentil proteins and is described as a "sustainable, non-polluting, climate-positive micronutrient fertilizer".
Gibbons councillor Darren McCann resigns amid sexual misconduct allegations
A Gibbons councillor has resigned amid sexual misconduct allegations.
On May 19, Darren McCann met with the town's chief administrative officer to bring forward a resignation letter. The letter stated his resignation was effective immediately.
McCann was accused of misconduct in two incidents.
Councillor Rebecca Balanko of Morinville issued a statement on May 13 detailing her experience with McCann.

Crop report shows jump in progress for farmer's seeding season
The recently released Saskatchewan Crop Report for the week of May 17-23 shows that farmers made a big leap in seeding progress.
Previously, the province had 19% of the crop planted, and with the newly reported number being at 52% the jump in that comes out to 33%.
Farmers had been held back from work by heavy rains and even snow in some regions previously, so many were breaking ground.
