Glow time on the greens for Estevan Bruins
The Estevan Bruins’ third annual Glow Golf Tournament lit up Hidden Valley Golf & RV Resort this past weekend, drawing a sold-out field and plenty of community spirit.
With more than 30 teams participating, the tournament showcased local business teams and community members enjoying a day of golf, camaraderie, and friendly competition. The event featured a unique twist: the front nine holes were played during the day, while the back nine took place after sunset, with fairways and golf carts lit up in creative glow-in-the-dark decorations.
Red Wings count down to home opener with packed preseason schedule
The schedule is heating up while the ice is cooling off at Crescent Point Place, as the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings gear up for another action-packed hockey season.
Fall Camp kicks off the on-ice activity, running from August 29th to September 1st. The top 40 players will then participate in the Eric Calibaba Cup on September 1st at 3 p.m. Fans can take advantage of $5 admission and a game day 50/50 for the first game of the preseason.
Rizz cap perfect season with provincial premier rugby championship
The Calgary Rams and Bow Valley Grizzlies’ combined women’s rugby team, Rizz, capped a flawless season by winning the Alberta Women's Premier League provincial championship on Aug. 16, defeating the Edmonton Lepachan Tigers, 58-17.
“It’s super exciting to be a part of that,” said Megan MacLean, vice-president of women’s rugby with the Bow Valley Rugby Club. “The girls are thrilled. It’s a moment that’s been a long time coming.”
MacLean said the team took control early in the championship match.
South Central Cubs are U18 AAA Western Canada Baseball Champions
A special run for the 18U AAA South Central Cubs in Winnipeg this past weekend was capped off by the team winning gold, claiming the Western Canada Baseball Championship.

Local athletes ready for week 2 at Canada Summer Games
A number of local athletes will begin their quest for gold as the Canada Summer Games enters its second week in St. John’s, Nfld.
On Tuesday, Assiniboia’s Kyle Giraudier and Brady Giraudier will be taking part in the men’s special Olympics 100 metre run.
Moose Jaw’s Kathryn Rogers will be competing in the women’s 1,500 metre run starting on Tuesday.
Carlyle Cardinals end season with semifinal appearance at Westerns
The Carlyle Cardinals fought hard to finish out their season at the 2025 Senior AA Western Canadian Baseball Championships in Westlock, Alberta. The team had previously secured titles for the Saskota Baseball League and the provincial tournament.

"We had a really good weekend in Westlock, Alberta, for Westerns. It was some really good baseball, and we played pretty well. We were able to make it to the semifinal, but unfortunately, we fell short in the semifinal."
Saskatchewan earns bronze in women's beach volleyball
Coached by Kyle's Brittany Marshall, Saskatchewan's women's beach volleyball team finished on the podium at the Canada Summer Games in St. John's, Newfoundland.
Alexa Smith and Erika Markentin earned their way to the bronze medal game on Saturday where they beat Alberta 2-1. Not only did they add to the Team Saskatchewan medal count, but they also established a core memory in the process as the ones behind the provinces only ever medal in beach volleyball.
10-year-old golf star Noah Lafreniere preparing for nationals
Golf sensation, 10-year-old Noah Lafreniere from St. Pierre-Jolys has had a fantastic year on the course, and the young star is looking to up his game as he continues to play in big tournaments.
How Noah got into the game of golf goes back to his dad's love of the game. "My dad got me into it," the young man says with a smile. "He played for quite a few years. He introduced it to me at the age of two."
Update: Power outage affecting water pressure in Didsbury
The Town of Didsbury says power has been restored at its Butte pumphouse after an outage caused low water pressure Monday.
The town said restrictions on water use have now been lifted, but some residents may still notice lower than normal pressure.
Earlier in the day, the town had asked people to delay laundry and dishwasher use while crews worked to restore power.

Juice Pigs headed to World Series of Slow Pitch in Kamloops
A Humboldt ball team is stepping onto the world stage as the Juice Pigs prepare to compete at the World Series National Slow Pitch in Kamloops, B.C. later this month.
The team has been around for quite some time, and this isn't the first time they have competed on the world stage.
“The team has been around for 25 years. It's just a bunch of local people, family. And so, it's a great group,” said Nicole Haeusler of the Juice Pigs.
