Elmwood hosts RBC PGA Scramble qualifier
Elmwood Golf Club is set to host a qualifying round for the RBC PGA Scramble starting on Monday.
It's an event for golfers of all abilities.
"The RBC PGA Scramble presented by BMW is one of the largest grassroots amateur golf programs in the country," said Wayne Macphee, Senior Manager of the RBC PGA Scramble. "We'll see 12,000 to 13,000 participants."
The event at Elmwood is 1 of 189 local qualifiers taking place all across the country.
The low net score from the Swift Current event advances to the regional final at the Willows Club in Furdale.

The U18 AAA Great North Estevan Bears are looking at what may be an important season for them, as a big event could come to Estevan. With a potential hosting of the Telus Cup West Regional tournament, the Bears would be under a greater lens and would want to perform their best for the larger stage.

"On paper, it looks good right now. It always depends on junior teams coming out of camp in the fall, but if most of the guys return, we'll have a strong team, I think."

The name is a result of a one-night-only rebranding vote.
They will have special edition merchandise on sale and a player jersey auction right after the game.
The Ground Squirrels will take on a Medicine Hat team the 57's played three times in their last four games.

Hockey Canada announced on the weekend the coaching staff that will lead the Canadian squad at the 2026 World Junior Hockey Championships in Minnesota.
One member of the staff is Humboldt’s Brad Lauer, who will serve as an assistant coach.
Red Sox mount comeback to defeat Miller Express
The Regina Red Sox scored 12 runs in the eighth inning to pick up a 20–11 win over the Moose Jaw Miller Express on Wednesday night in Regina.
Regina opened the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the second inning. Moose Jaw got a run back in the fourth, with Austin Gurney hitting a solo home run.
Marysburg Royals look to add to their storied legacy with another provincial championship
The Marysburg Royals will try and stake their claim as the top team in Saskatchewan this weekend as they compete in the Senior AA Tier Provincial 1 Championships in Saskatoon.
This year’s event will feature seven teams including the Royals, which is something that Curtis Strueby of the Royals is pleased with.
“It’s a good sign for senior baseball at our level in our province,” he said, “should be a good competitive weekend.”
