Celebrating 500 years of Anabaptism: MHV hosts Gareth Brandt art exhibit and talk
The Mennonite Heritage Village (MHV) is gearing up for a meaningful event next week, as they welcome local-born artist, scholar, and poet Gareth Brandt for a special exhibit and talk on Wednesday, June 18th at 7 p.m.
Brandt will be presenting a temporary art exhibit titled “Radical Roots”, showcasing his original paintings and poetry that reflect on the 500th anniversary of Anabaptism. The exhibit will run from June 18 to June 28.

The prodigal son returns: Steinbach Olympian calls people back to the heart of God
Hundreds of people gathered to worship together on Steinbach's Main Street for Worship in the City on Sunday.
Worship in the City is a part of Steinbach's annual summer festival, Summer in the City. It was a citywide worship service, with a time of worship, prayer, and keynote speakers. It was a collaborative effort involving over 13 local churches that came together to organize the event.
From Classroom to Community: Brandon Police welcomes seven new cadets
This past Friday, 32 people graduated from the Safety Officer 1 program at Assiniboine College - 'a proud milestone on their journey to serve and protect,' shared Brandon Police Services.
'We're especially excited to welcome seven of these grads as the newest cadets joining the Brandon Police Service family. With over 300 years of combined policing experience guiding their training, these graduates are stepping into their roles with knowledge, courage and a strong desire to help their communities.'

When you are ten years old and imagine what a cool truck would look like, this is almost exactly what everyone comes up with.
This step-side pickup has a short wheelbase, fiery red paint, adorned with actual flame decals, and an absolutely glowing polish on all its chrome. With looks straight out of the imagination of a kid obsessed with Hot Wheels, this project is always a favourite of both the young and old whenever it pulls into a show.
Kayaks, canoes, and dragon boats, oh my!: Paddlefest 2025 a success
Have you ever wanted to try kayaking? How about paddleboarding? Morden’s annual Paddlefest set sail last Saturday, June 14th, with a great turnout from all throughout Manitoba. Created as an opportunity for the community to try out the various rentals available at Lake Minnewasta, the water was full of both first-time and seasoned paddlers.
