Good Buy to Hunger and the Holiday Train!

The Good Buy to Hunger Campaign is back in Moose Jaw, with the Moose Jaw Co-op and CPKC.

When you shop at the Moose Jaw Co-op, you can spend an extra $10 on a food bag at the checkout. This food bag will go directly to the Moose Jaw and District Food Bank to make sure no one goes hungry this holiday season.

It all leads up to the CPKC Holiday Train arriving in Moose Jaw on December 6, with a special performance featuring Tyler Shaw and Shawnee Kish on December 7 at 4:30pm.

We were talking about winter and looking forward to ice fishing and snowmobiling on the morning show today. The two activities go hand-in-hand for many and I witnessed that on one cold, winter's day many years ago.

We were out on the ice catching some fish in a cozy fishin' shack when some friends pulled up on their snowmobiles. One of the fellas was riding a brand new machine and told us how fast it could go.

One of my mates asked if he could take it for a rip. The owner obliged.

Baking spirits bright: Local bake sale spreads holiday cheer for Mexican orphanage

The holiday spirit is in full swing as local baker Jen Chapman leads a heartfelt fundraiser titled "Baking Spirits Bright" to benefit Ancla de Amor, an orphanage in Mexico. The initiative combines Chapman’s passion for baking with her deep connection to the ministry, which was founded by her brother, Brian.

“I’m just a home baker who loves to bake,” shared Chapman. “My brother and his family started Ancla de Amor, so it’s pretty near and dear to my heart. This bake sale felt like a way I could help.”

Gateway Resources Christmas concert: A heartwarming celebration of music and community

The Christmas season has arrived, and Gateway Resources is gearing up for its annual Christmas concert, bringing the community together to celebrate the spirit of the season. The concert, which features performances from the participants of Gateway Resources, will take place on Thursday, November 28th, at 7:00 PM at the Winkler Bergthaler Mennonite Church. Admission is free, and a freewill offering will be collected to support Gateway’s programs.

There is just one more week until the conclusion of the 27th annual Festival of Trees. 

Assistant Executive Director with the Family Place, Judy Lumb, said everything can be viewed at the Great Plains Ford Auction House on First Avenue south.

This includes the 26 trees, which will be auctioned off live on November 26th at the first in-person gala event in five years.

"It is a ticketed event, we do still have some individual tickets, so if anybody needs them, they can call us at the Family Place."

South Asian dance workshop coming to Weyburn Public Library

This weekend the Weyburn Public Library is hosting a South Asian Dance Workshop presented by the Mudra Traditional Arts Academy and led by world renowned dance practitioner Vrunda Upadhyay. 

According to information sent from the Mudra Traditional Arts Academy, Upadhyay is internationally acclaimed, and a celebrated Bharatanatyam expert. With over 20 years of experience, she will lead a workshop looking into the beauty of South Asian dance traditions, cultural storytelling, and the nuance of classical expressions with a focus on Bharatanatyam techniques.
