Offensive line shuffling highlights Roughriders roster moves for Western Final

A couple of changes to the Saskatchewan Roughriders roster as they head to Winnipeg on Saturday in the Western Final with a berth to the Grey Cup on the line.  

Left tackle Trevor Reid will miss this week’s game due to a knee injury. Reid started in each of the Roughriders 18 regular season games and last week’s Western semifinal against BC. Reid was the team’s nominee for Most Outstanding Rookie this season.  

Broncos hitting the road this weekend with matchups in Melville and Kindersley

With plenty of rest this week, the Humboldt Broncos will embark on a busy weekend with a pair of games on the road.  

Saturday night will see the Broncos venture to Melville to tangle with the Millionaires. This will be a rematch from last Saturday’s contest where Humboldt beat Melville 6-3. Defenceman Tre Fouquette had four points (1G-3A) and forward Marik Mamic chipped in with three points (2G-1A).

Broncos Assistant Coach Carter Hansen named to Canada West coaching staff for World Junior A Challenge

Fresh off leading Team SJHL at the Western All-Star Showcase in Warman this week, Broncos Assistant Coach Carter Hansen will have additional responsibilities soon.  

Hansen has been named the video coach for Team Canada West for the World Junior A Challenge that will be in Camrose in December. 

During the All-Star Showcase, Hansen led the team from the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) to a two-game split against the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL). 

SJHL and MJHL split two games at Western All-Star Showcase

After three days, the Western All-Star Showcase has wrapped up in Warman.  

The three-day event saw a roster of 20 players from the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) compete against the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) in a pair of exhibition games as a part of a selection camp to determine 20 spots for the Canada West team training camp for the World Junior A Challenge.  

Counting down to Christmas with a Reverse Advent Calendar in Watrous

Advent calendars are typically used to count down the days of Christmas with a gift each day.  

Watrous is taking the opposite approach to help their local food bank by issuing a friendly challenge to the community. 

Instead of receiving a gift, residents are asked to collect a different item each day to fill up a donation box.  

Broncos Strizzi, Miller and McIlwain to participate in Western All-Showcase

Three members of the Humboldt Broncos have been selected to represent the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) at the Western All-Star Showcase in Warman. 

Forwards Jacob Strizzi and Conner Miller along with defenceman Oakley McIlwain will be a part of the SJHL team that will be competing against players from the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.
