Saskatchewan is almost finished seeding

Seeding is nearing completion in the Humboldt area, according to the latest Crop Report from the Ministry of Agriculture. 98 per cent of the crops have been seeded around Humboldt, while the northeastern region is at 99 per cent.  

From the provincial perspective, 97 per cent of the crops have been seeded, which is an increase from 88 per cent last week. The five-year average for this time of year is 95 per cent.  

Roughriders surge past Redblacks to open 2025 CFL season

Storm clouds were brewing early in Thursday’s season opener for the green and white, but the Saskatchewan Roughriders were able to manage the storm and despite a late scare, emerged victorious over the Ottawa Redblacks 31-26.  

Roughriders wide receiver Samuel Emilus had a strong start to the 2025 campaign with eight catches for 133 yards and a touchdown.  

Golf, Glam, and Giving Back with the Diva for a Day Golf Tournament

With sparkling style and charitable spirit, the Diva for a Day Golf Tournament this year will being glamour to the greens in support of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Humboldt. 

The 10th edition of the event is set for Saturday at the Humboldt Golf Club. 

Program Lead Jillina Beaudoin says it’s shaping up to be another fun afternoon with 152 golfers expected to hit the links with this year’s theme being Glam-Ma. 

Local talent fuels Saskatoon Berries hot start

Through the first week of the 2025 Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) season, the Saskatoon Berries are showing no signs of a sophomore jinx.  

After dropping their first contest of the season, the Berries have won their last five games and are a half of a game back of the Medicine Hat Mavericks for first place in the Eastern Division.  

Three local players have made some early season contributions to the Berries success.  

Astros squeak past East Central 15U AAA Dodgers 8-7

The 15U AAA East Central Dodgers came up short against the Saskatoon Astros on Wednesday night, losing 8-7 in Muenster.  

First baseman Everitt Solar had a big night at the plate for the Dodgers as he had two hits, including a home run and drove in four runs.  

Catcher Sawyer Pollon had three hits and scored two runs.  

Batoche Festival Grounds welcoming northern wildfire evacuees

The Métis Nation–Saskatchewan (MN–S) government announced today that they would be opening the Batoche Festival Grounds to the northern wildfire evacuees seeking a secure place to wait out the current situation.
