Lane Surfers are Quebec bound after a gold medal win at the SSFA 55+ Games

 The Lane Surfers five-pin bowling team is heading to Quebec at the end of the summer.  

They hope they will come back with something to show for it, as they will be traveling there to compete in the Canada 55+ Games after a first-place finish in the 65+ 5 pin bowling category at the Saskatchewan Senior Fitness Association (SSFA) 55+ Provincial Games that were held last week in North Battleford.   

Lake Lenore Co-op and Affinity Credit Union present cheque to Lake Lenore School for the Breakfast for Learning Program

Students in Lake Lenore are going to get a good start to their day at school.  

Recently, Lake Lenore Co-op and Affinity Credit Union made a cheque presentation of $1,230 to the Breakfast for Learning Program at the Lake Lenore School. 

The afternoon was highlighted with a BBQ at Lake Lenore Bowling Alley, with over 200 burgers served to the community.  

There were other reasons to celebrate with Lake Lenore Co-op Greenhouse wrap-up, the end of another seeding season for farmers, and the students and teachers reaching the end of another school year.  

Diva for a Day golf tournament another big hit for Humboldt BBBS

 

The Diva for a Day Golf Tournament continues to make a long-term impact on Humboldt Big Brothers and Big Sisters. 

This year's fundraiser recently took place at the Humboldt Golf Club, with over 125 golfers hitting the links in support.  

Program Support/Development Coordinator Tammy Reudig said this year’s event was another success.   

Hammerheads compete in Moose Jaw swim meet

The Humboldt Hammerheads Senior swimmers were in Moose Jaw this past weekend competing in the Mike Mintenko swim meet.

Despite tough cold, windy and rainy conditions inside of a 50m pool, it was a successful weekend for the team, with many swimmers setting some new personal best records.  

Aidra Angelstad finished off with a pair of gold medals and had eight total top three finishes.  

Taylor Possberg also picked up one victory and collected three medals in total.

Annagail Ell's figure skating season recognized with a provincial award

It was a successful season on and off the ice for a local figure skater.  

Annagail Ell capped off a triumph campaign recently when she won the Provincial StarSkate Award.   

Most of Ell’s awards have been a result of accomplishments on the ice, but the Provincial Star Athlete Award is based both on the ice achievements of the skater and required three letters of recommendation.  

Herperger duo are the big winners at an abbreviated edition of HGC Father's Day Tournament

It was a mixed bag of weather on the weekend at Humboldt Golf Club’s Annual Father’s Day Tournament.   

On Saturday, the golfers were presented with ideal playing conditions, while on Sunday the cold wind and rain forced a cancellation midway through the final round of the two-day event.   

Pilot project launched for Regional Emergency Mangement Operation in Humboldt

Steps have been made towards a Regional Emergency Mangement Operation in Humboldt and the surrounding area.  

The discussion has been ongoing for several years, with interest being expressed along with communities and rural municipalities in the area. 

This led to a successful application for a TSS grant to hire a consultant to help develop an emergency plan for the region.
