The family of Don Constantinoff sadly announces his sudden passing on Friday, June 13, 2025 at the age of 72 years.

Beloved husband of Sharon Constantinoff, father of Terry and Clayton and grandfather of Damon and Grasyn.

At Don's request, there will not be a funeral service.

Donations in memory of Don may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Revamp coming for Canada’s national pig code

Canada’s Code of Practice for Care and Handling of Pigs is up for review, a process expected to be compete by 2028

Canada’s national pig code is getting an update.

‘We’ve launched the code of practice with the National Farm Animal Care Council,” said Stephen Heckbert, executive director of the Canadian Pork Council.

The Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Pigs will be guided by the development process set out by the National Farm Animal Care Council (NFACC), the spearheading body for Canada’s various livestock codes.

Fueling West Central Saskatchewan, one $5 lunch at a time

Each Tuesday this summer, the Kindersley and District Co-op is hosting a series of $5 community lunches. Held at the Kindersley Senior Centre from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., these lunches are part of a grassroots initiative to support local organizations through good food and good company.

Colby Kimball, a marketing intern with the Co-op, explained that the weekly lunches are about giving back. “The barbecues are a way for us to give back to the community,” he said. “We're putting on $5 lunches, your lunch, snacks and drinks, and those proceeds go to various community groups.”

RCMP investigating break-ins at post offices in southwest Saskatchewan

RCMP detachments in Swift Current Rural and Leader are investigating a series of break-ins at post offices across multiple southwest Saskatchewan communities.

Leader RCMP say the break-ins occurred sometime between the evening of June 11 and the morning of June 12 at post offices in Lancer and Prelate. Damage was done to mailboxes at both sites. Police say no items have been reported stolen so far.

One dead, two injured in Highway 12 crash west of Castor, Alta.

A 79-year-old man from Red Deer has died following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 12 west of Castor, Alta., on Wednesday.

Coronation RCMP responded to the scene of the serious collision just west of the town on June 11, prompting a closure of Highway 12 in both directions between Castor and Township Road 380.

In an update later that day, RCMP confirmed that a truck travelling eastbound on Highway 12 veered into the oncoming lane and collided with an SUV.

Seven years later, RCMP search rivers for answers in Ashley Morin case

Saskatchewan RCMP say there will be an increased police presence on the rivers in the Battlefords area this week as part of the ongoing investigation into the 2018 disappearance of Ashley Morin.

Officers from the RCMP’s Underwater Recovery Team, Historical Case Unit, Search and Rescue, and the Battlefords Detachment are conducting targeted searches of the river and surrounding banks.

Morin, who was 31 years old when she disappeared, was last seen in mid-July 2018 in North Battleford. Her last known contact with family was on July 10 of that year.

Young man sentenced for high-speed impaired driving, police chase in Unity Provincial Court

A young Saskatchewan man has been handed a sentence of 12 months’ probation, community service, fines, and a temporary driving ban after admitting to a series of dangerous driving offences — including fleeing from police and driving at speeds of up to 170 km/h while under the influence of alcohol.

Court heard the charges stemmed from several incidents on March 15th 2025, during which the young man was caught speeding, driving impaired, and operating an unregistered vehicle. He entered guilty pleas to multiple charges, including impaired driving and evading police.
