Leader urges residents to properly use recycling bins to keep service available
The Town of Leader is reminding residents to properly use community recycling bins after reports of overfilled containers and debris blowing around the area.
In a notice posted this week, the town said bins at the municipal shop have been filled beyond capacity, with items stacked above closed lids or left on the ground.
Officials are asking residents to hold onto recyclables if bins are full rather than leaving them beside the containers.
Airdrie Urban Farm Collective looking for new home
The Airdrie Urban Farm Collective is seeking a new location for next year.
Once this growing season ends, the collective must move out of their current spot at the Daybreak Community Church.

Steinbach sees over 100mm of rain, flooding reported across city
Heavy rainfall has led to localized flooding across parts of southeastern Manitoba, with Steinbach seeing more than 100 millimetres of rain between Thursday and early Friday morning.
According to the Manitoba Ag Weather Network, Steinbach received 106.1 millimetres of rain, including 53.3 millimetres since midnight. Niverville has so far recorded the highest rainfall amount at 125 mm just south of the town.

City explains government roles ahead of election
With the Airdrie Municipal Election just over a month away, the City of Airdrie is reminding residents about the services each level of government is responsible for.
The city took to social media to break down the responsibilities of municipal, provincial/territorial and federal governments.
In the post, the city shares that the municipal level takes care of individual communities like cities, towns and counties.
Heavy rainfall floods Steinbach animal rescue, forcing temporary closure
Heavy rainfall that hit southern Manitoba Thursday evening has led to the temporary closure of an animal rescue in Steinbach.
Steinbach & Area Animal Rescue took to Facebook early Friday morning to let the community know that their basement had flooded.
"The rescue basement has flooded again!! If anyone has pumps that can help, please reach out," said the rescue in a post on social media.

A Moose Jaw native who once commanded the city's 15 Wing has been named the new deputy commander of the Royal Canadian Air Force.
Major General Denis O'Reilly will replace Major General Jamie Speiser-Blanchett as Deputy Commander, Royal Canadian Air Force, later this year, according to an announcement from the RCAF Association.
Week four Meal In The Field: Dale family farm
Harvest season is in full swing, and this week’s Meal in the Field took us near Plunkett, where the Dale family farm has been operating since 1979.
The family-run operation is now in its third and fourth generations, with a fifth already getting a head start, Jeff’s young son, who has already taken a turn at the combine.
The Dale's manage about 5,000 acres of land and 500 head of cattle, keeping them busy year-round.
We grow just about everything, they explained. “We need feed for cattle and grain to sell. So, it’s canola, wheat, oats a bit of everything.”
Maintenance upgrades completed across Rocky View Schools
At the latest Rocky View Schools (RVS) board of trustee meeting, the trustees heard a report on maintenance projects done throughout RVS during the 2024/25 school year.
According to "The Brief", RVS operations department completed a wide range of projects to ensure school facilities remain safe, welcoming and well-equipped to support learning.
"To address enrolment growth and provide additional classroom space, modular classrooms were added at several schools across the division."
YQR president and CEO says airport is exceeding pre-pandemic activity
Regina International Airport president and CEO James Bogusz was the keynote speaker at a Moose Jaw and District Chamber of Commerce luncheon on Thursday, giving the business community an update on operations at the closest major airport to Moose Jaw.
Bogusz announced that, for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, the airport exceeded 2019 activity levels for two consecutive months.
