Saskatchewan finalizes trade mission to Asia
The dates are set Premier Scott Moe's trade mission to Asia runs September 6th to 12th.
It's a very important region for the province ... In 2024, Saskatchewan exported over $10 billion to Asia—$4.4 billion to China, $929 million to Japan and 162 million to South Korea.
The goal is to reinforce future trade opportunities and engage with China on their temporary duties on peas and canola.
The Premier has invited Prime Minister Mark Carney and any other federal ministers to join the trade mission.

Team Saskatchewan wins bronze at Men's National Baseball Championships
The National Men’s Baseball Championships wrapped up on Sunday in Regina.
In the bronze medal game, members of the Marysburg Royals were in both dugouts as Team Saskatchewan battled the host, Regina Trappers.
Team Saskatchewan won the bronze medal game 13-3.
Marysburg’s Tom Hooker was the leadoff hitter for Team Saskatchewan, and had two hits, scored a pair of runs and also stole two bases.
Saskatchewan Roughriders lead in the west shrinks to two points following 32-15 loss to Calgary
Through the first half of the 2025 Canadian Football League (CFL) regular season has a record 8-0 against six of their eight CFL opponents.
The one team that has had the Roughriders number this year is the Calgary Stampeders.
On Saturday, the Stampeders completed a two-game sweep over the Roughriders after a 32-15 victory at McMahon Stadium.
APAS and SUMA push for action on tariffs and global trade
The Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA) are calling for swift action to address ongoing trade tariffs that continue to impact farmers.
APAS met with Kody Blois, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister when he was in Saskatoon for last week's canola meeting.
APAS President Bill Prybylski emphasized the urgency of resolving tariff disputes with China and the United States, which have disrupted normal trade flows and hurt our agricultural economy.
Alberta eases water access for riparian restoration
The Alberta government is streamlining its process for restoring watersheds.
The province is removing the requirement to have a temporary diversion licence as part of a riparian restoration project.
The government said it expects the change to cut red tape, keep plants alive and ensure that the time and money put into watershed restoration projects are not wasted.
“Freedom to water is about cutting through the clutter of bureaucracy so real work can happen,” provincial environment minister Rebecca Schulz said in a press release.
Saskatchewan ends Canada Summer Games with 48 medals
The 2025 edition of the Canada Summer Games wrapped up on Sunday in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
In the end, Saskatchewan finished sixth in the medal standings with 48 medals in total with 13 gold, 14 silver 21 bronze.
One of those bronze medals was courtesy of the Women’s Volleyball team including Lanigan’s Reese Stroeder.

A new post-secondary academic year brings continued funding opportunities
As September approaches, post-secondary students will soon be settling into campuses across the province, including Carlton Trail Campuses throughout the region at St. Peter’s College, affiliated with USask, in Muenster.
A provincial release states that approximately 54,000 students will be heading back to classes following the long weekend. The Government of Saskatchewan says it remains committed to post-secondary students and their financial needs.
StreetFest hits a home run for the second year in a row
This past weekend’s StreetFest was another summer hit, the second year in a row, for the Humboldt Downtown Business Improvement District. Main Street in Humboldt become a showcase to downtown businesses and also to artisans and product vendors with a wide variety of wares.
