These talented troublemakers, named Taffy and Lydia, have developed a knack for defying the laws of gravity and scaling kennels like seasoned circus performers.

Youth struck in hit-and-run

In a shocking hit-and-run incident that occurred last Friday night, a female youth pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Riverdene Park Drive. 

At approximately 10:38 p.m., police received a report of a hit and run. Responding officers swiftly arrived at the scene and began their investigation, explained Staff Sergeant for the Swift Current City RCMP, Evan Gordon. 

Prepare to celebrate Canada

The second annual Celebrate Canada event kicks off next week in Swift Current, to celebrate the diversity and cultures that make up Canada. 

Put on by the City of Swift Current, in partnership with a variety of local organizations, the two-week celebration features an array of events, explained Partnerships and Events Coordinator for the City, Brad Woods.  

Inclusive park on Swift Current's horizon

The playground, which is part of a multi-phase project, aims to provide a safe and inclusive space for members of the community to enjoy.

Former pharmacist from the Southwest receives four years for manslaughter

After entering a guilty plea back in May, former Herbert resident, Shaun Ross Wiebe was sentenced in a Vernon courtroom last Friday. 

The sentencing comes five years after a resident in Vernon, B.C., Heather Barker, was found unresponsive inside her home. 

The court, following the joint submission of Crown Counsel and the defence, handed down a four-year jail sentence and a ten-year ban on firearms.

West Central residents can expect to see some sporadic showers over the next couple of hours due to a low-pressure system in Alberta. 

Meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada, Samantha Mauti, elaborated.  

“As of today, we've had this low-pressure system sort of spin up in Alberta and it's swinging a little bit of a weak cold front through southwestern Saskatchewan right now,” she explained.

Swift Current pedals towards safety

The annual Bike Safety Event in Swift Current finally returned to the city on Monday afternoon after the event was initially postponed due to unfavourable weather. 

The event featured helmet and bike inspections, lessons in hand signals and safety awareness, cycling activities, and more. 

To bring the event to fruition this year, the City teamed up with the Saskatchewan Health Authority and the Kiwanis Club of Swift Current.
