The Mobile Stage Company, a burgeoning enterprise based out of Austin, Manitoba, has been making waves since its inception in 2018. The story of this unique company began with a simple phone call. One evening, Ed Heppner called up his friend Kelvin Bueckert, inviting him over for a visit. What started as a casual get-together quickly turned into an evening of dreaming and planning that laid the groundwork for The Mobile Stage Co.

Between now and the end of August, Firewood2Go is inviting new and existing customers to cut costs on high-quality fuel wood. Cords of 8’ pine logs are currently on sale for $150 – a price that also includes delivery (12 cord minimum).

With firewood season typically heating up by mid-August, Firewood2Go general Manager Sjoerd Huese is encouraging folks to reserve their cords before there’s a waiting list.

A love of logging runs in the Thiessen family. 

Kenton Thiessen started working in the bush when he was 16-years-old and eventually launched his own business. His son, Jediah, got going with that business, Thiessen Logging, when he was 14. 

“It’s just always been in the blood,” he says. “When I was a kid, I was always visiting my dad in the bush and helping with things and sitting on his lap trying to operate the machines.” 

Now he operates them for real.

Talking about community engagement is one thing; living it out is something else entirely. When it comes to Pharmasave in Swift Current, you could say the business not only talks the talk but also walks the walk. 

“We do a little bit of everything in the community, from helping seniors to supporting folks with lower incomes who might be struggling,” says Kenzie Haubrich, Pharmasave’s store operator. “It’s hard to list everything. We’re always trying to give back.” 

Power washing involves much more than high-pressure water. In fact, it can be meticulous work, requiring various skills and products in order to be properly applied to specific surfaces.

Just ask Cole Trudeau.

“When you’re power washing your driveway, it’s pretty much the only time you’re using high pressure,” he explains. “When I work with siding, I use a method called soft washing.”
