Update: Collision and Freezing Drizzle Slow Traffic in Airdrie
An early morning multi-vehicle collision that was causing delays for commuters in Airdrie and surrounding areas, has been cleared.
Four vehicles were involved including one semi, no injuries were reported at the time. The collision occurred in the northbound lanes of the QE2, just past Yankee Valley Boulevard. Crews were on the scene for some time, which affected the left-hand lane and caused significant traffic congestion.
Fog and slippery patches hampering roads around Airdrie
After the sustained snowfall over the weekend, motorists are waking up on Monday morning to foggy conditions.
Roads in and around Airdrie continue to be slippery with icy wheel paths, while the QEII heading Southbound towards Calgary city limits is partly covered in snow and is reported to be slippery, with shoulder snow and ice buildup. Northbound on the QEII towards Crossfield, similar conditions have been reported.
Motorists are asked to exercise caution on bridge decks and intersections.

A previous motor vehicle collision on the QEII heading Southbound near Olds has been cleared.
The collision occurred in the left-hand lane, near Township Road 322 at the junction of Highway 27 with the QEII. However, motorists are asked to continue to drive with caution as there will continue to be delays in the area.
Mounties are advising of poor and slippery road conditions, partly covered with snow on the QEII between Calgary and Olds.
Motorists are asked to postpone travel if possible and if they must travel, to do so with caution.

Update: Southbound QEII collision north of Airdrie snarls traffic
A previous motor vehicle collision on the QEII heading Southbound near Olds has now been cleared.
The collision occurred in the left-hand lane, near Township Road 322 at the junction of Highway 27 with the QEII. However, motorists are asked to continue to drive with caution as there will continue to be delays in the area.
Highways North of Airdrie are partly covered in snow, with strong winds being reported, resulting in blowing snow. Black ice and slippery wheel paths have also been reported.
Update: Multiple vehicle collision on 40th Avenue Overpass
An earlier multi-vehicle collision on the 40th Avenue overpass has been cleared.
Motorists did report that the collision occurred just as the turn-off to the QEII and that traffic was down to one turn lane heading Southbound. Motorists can expect that there may be residual traffic in the area.
Emergency crews were previously on the scene, though it is unknown if there were injuries.
Update: Collision near CrossIron Mills causing delays
A multi-vehicle collision that occurred Northbound on the QEII highway near Highway 566 has been cleared.
The collision was blocking the left-hand lane and there were major delays and traffic congestion in the area.
This is the second collision that has occurred near CrossIron Mills Mall today.
Motorists commuting North of Airdrie asked to exercise caution
Motorists who are travelling north of Airdrie, on the QEII on Sunday are asked to exercise caution and drive to winter conditions.
While roads are in fairly good condition north of Carstairs towards Didsbury and Olds, there are reports that further North, towards Red Deer there is poor visibility due to fog and blowing snow, as well as shoulder ice and snow buildup.
Update: Multi-vehicle incident on Deerfoot Trail snarls traffic
A multi-vehicle incident on Southbound Deerfoot Trail and Stoney Trail Southeast has been cleared.
Earlier in the evening the incident was blocking the right-hand lane. Emergency crews were reported to be on the scene but have since left.
There were no details on whether injuries were reported.

Road side-assistance calls top 10,000
According to the Alberta Motor Association (AMA) between Tuesday, January 9, and the end of the day on Thursday, January 11, they received more than 10,000 requests for roadside assistance across the province.
"That number continues to climb given the extreme cold. In parts of Alberta, call volume has been as high as nine times the norm for this time of year, with dead batteries being the biggest culprit," The AMA stated.
