Rose Ann Dembiczak, late of Weyburn, SK passed away on April 7, 2025 at the age of 87 years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel; parents, William and Aggie; sister-in-law, Doris Gelsinger; brothers-in-law: Larry Dembiczak,Joe Gelsinger, Murray Lazoskie, Martin Mastel
and Johnny Mastel.
Nelson, Dwayne Lawrence
Dwayne Lawrence Nelson, late of Fillmore, SK passed away on April 5, 2025 at the age of 66 years.
He was predeceased by his parents, Magnus and Joyce Nelson; as well as,
numerous aunts and uncles.
Dwayne is survived by his sister, Barb (Dennis) Kammerer and children: Amanda (Ryan)
Randall, Erin (Luke) Levesque, John Kammerer (all of Saskatoon, SK); his brother,
Gerald (Patty) Nelson of Weyburn, SK.
Cremation has taken place. As per Dwayne’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
R.M. of Weyburn gives public notice to proposed zoning bylaw change
The R.M. of Weyburn No. 67 has provided notice of their intent to adopt a new bylaw that will amend the Municipality Zoning Bylaw. This notice is being given under Section 207 of the Planning and Development Act. The change will apply to all land within the R.M. of Weyburn unless specifically excluded.
A public hearing will be held on April 29th at 7:00 p.m. in the upper level of McKenna Hall. Those who wish to speak about the proposed bylaw will have the opportunity to do so at this meeting. Written comments are also welcome but must be received by 4:30 p.m. on April 29th.
Southeast producers preparing for seeding in coming weeks
As milder temperatures melt off the last of the snow in the fields across southeast Saskatchewan, producers like Dale Paslawski near Weyburn are getting ready for another season in the fields. While seeding is still a few weeks away, the conditions are shaping up nicely.
“We've melted off pretty good here,” Paslawski said. “It's been kind of a dragged-out spring. We didn't get as much runoff as I thought we would, but field conditions are looking absolutely perfect.”
Impaired driver's actions made arrest 'rather easy' for Weyburn Police
An accident involving an impaired driver last Tuesday was reported to the Weyburn Police Service by a witness of the incident. An impaired man crashed into a fence, taking out a street sign in the process.
Deputy Police Chief Shane St. John says that when police arrived on scene, the man was found behind the wheel of the vehicle, intoxicated, and still using the intoxicant.
Federal NDP leader worried for kids after Saskatchewan MLA called him a terrorist
Federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh says he's worried about the message being sent to children after a Saskatchewan legislature member and former teacher called him a terrorist.
Speaking to reporters in Richmond, B.C., Singh said he didn't care personally about the comment but questioned why Saskatchewan Party MLA Racquel Hilbert would even say such a thing.
Flowers and Wings: Rotary Club hosting container gardening event at Legion

Bombers extend series with win over Red Wings
The best-of-seven SJHL semi-final series between the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings and Flin Flon Bombers will be going back to Flin Flon for Game 5. The Bombers opened the scoring in the first period and would continue to add to the lead throughout the game for a 5-1 victory, silencing the 1420 in attendance at Crescent Point Place.
Envision seeks sponsors for inaugural 'Par for a Purpose' golf tournament
Envision Counselling and Support Centre announced the launch of their first annual Par for a Purpose Mental Health & Wellness Golf Tournament. The event is taking over the legacy of the long-standing Weyburn Travelodge Hotel Charity Golf Tournament which raised more than $400,000 for non-profit charities across southeast Saskatchewan in its 20 years.
