Roughriders look to sweep Labour Day set against the Blue Bombers

The tables will turn this week, as the prairie rivalry between the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers as the two teams will meet at Princess Auto Stadium on Saturday.  

Saskatchewan opened the 2025 season series with a thrilling 34-30 win on Sunday. With a win tomorrow, the green and white will clinch the season series between the two clubs.  

Gens fired up for first taste of season ahead

The Cochrane Generals are fine-tuning their roster for the HJHL season with the first of two home-and-home preseason series this weekend.

Tonight, the Gens are in Didsbury to face the Mountainview Colts, then return to Totem One for a rematch Sunday, Sept. 7, at 5 p.m.

The Generals don’t typically face the Colts in preseason, but it’s an ideal matchup to get the adrenaline flowing.

Kindersley, Rosetown, Kerrobert represented at U16 AAA Showcase

Two teams featuring West Central players are competing at the 2025 Female U16 AAA Showcase Tournament in Swift Current this weekend, putting an end to Sask First competition in the Female Under-16 Program for 2025.

Team White sees Kindersley's Iralyn Calkins joining a pair of Rosetown natives Harper Kampen and Jalaa Moore Jagow, taking on Team Green featuring Kerrobert's Berkley Wuttunee, Kindersley's Hayden Hilbig, and Rosetown's Charleigh Johnston. 

Rebels sign 16-year-old American forward

The Red Deer Rebels have announced that forward Grayden Peterson has signed a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with the team.

The 16-year-old from West Fargo, North Dakota played 27 games in 2024-25 for West Fargo High (USHS-ND) and had nine goals and 14 assists for 23 points.

He also played 12 games for Team North Dakota 16U AAA and had six goals and three assists for nine points.

Broncos sign F Logan Flint

The Humboldt Broncos have made a late addition to their roster with the signing of 2007-born forward Logan Flint.  

Standing 6’1″ and weighing 185 pounds, the Cranbrook BC product spent last season with the West Kelowna Warriors of the BCHL where he had 6 points (1G-5A). He added 3 points (1G-2A) in five playoff games.  

New season, new logo, same Estevan Minor Hockey spirit

Estevan Minor Hockey is gearing up for another busy season with returning board members, dedicated coaches, and a series of events aimed at engaging the local community.

Stephen Truman, the president of Estevan Minor Hockey, says the board has largely returned from last season, with a few new faces in the younger divisions and some shuffled roles to help the organization run smoothly. “Returning faces help keep everyone familiar with the goings-on of EMHA and make things run smoother,” Truman noted.
