EMS: Adult in non-life-threatening condition after Edmonton Trail incident in Airdrie

One adult was transported to the hospital in non-life-threatening condition after emergency crews responded to the Edmonton Trail S.E. area Tuesday evening, according to Alberta Health Services.

In an email to Discover Airdrie, an AHS spokesperson confirmed the individual was taken to the hospital shortly before 6:00 p.m. EMS did not have additional scene information.

Airdrie pushing ahead with downtown revitalization

The city of Airdrie is relaunching the Downtown Incentives Program.

This keeps up the downtown revitalization trend, which, according to the city, saw 21 bids approved for a $1.52 million reinvestment in the city's centre.

Adena Malyk, the downtown revitalization coordinator for the City of Airdrie, explained that the bylaw for the revitalization was passed back in September of 2022, with the province of Alberta approving Airdrie for the Community Revitalization Levy (CRL) shortly after in December.

Rocky View Schools makes update to school calendar

At the latest Rocky View Schools (RVS) Board of Trustees meeting, the trustees made some changes to the 2025/26 school calendar.

According to RVS, the changes to the calendar are to accommodate Kindergarten students better and to provide options intended to decrease the anxiety some students may experience over the start of the school year.

Canada Post on Wednesday laid out its "final offers" to the union representing 55,000 workers after negotiations resumed Wednesday morning, as tensions run high over the future of the beleaguered institution.

Included in the proposal are an end to compulsory overtime, a signing bonus of $1,000 for urban employees and $500 for rural and suburban ones, cost-of-living payments that are triggered at a lower inflation threshold.

Lake Louise woman dies in backcountry skiing fall near Moraine Lake

A 34-year-old woman from Lake Louise has died after falling while skiing in the backcountry near Moraine Lake.

Parks Canada received a report at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, of a skier who had fallen a considerable distance, according to an RCMP statement.

Visitor Safety Specialists with Parks Canada responded to the call. The skier was extracted by a long line with support from Alpine Helicopters.

STARS air ambulance also responded, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. RCMP confirmed she was a resident of Lake Louise.
