Martens Mutterings: Priority? Fun over winning
So, I'm playing slo-pitch this year for the first time in many years. In the first game of the season, I had a couple poor hits, and a bobbled ball in the outfield. And I was mad at myself. Than the next game, I hurt my quads(both) running. Which, if that isn't a tell-tale sign that you're beginning to age, I don't know what is. Our team played again last night, and in the 2 weeks we had off from ball, I did a little soul searching as to why I'm even playing.

Christians invited to pray for Canada each day in June
A ministry leader from Winnipeg is encouraging other Christians to join in 30 days of prayer this June.
"In June 2021, I started sharing the gospel and giving out Bibles in Winnipeg," says Lin Arceo, the Volunteer Coordinator of Engage Today. "The year after, in the same month, in June, my two friends and I went to Niagara Falls, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec City, just to share the gospel and hand out Bibles. God did amazing [things]."
For the third year in a row, Arceo is inviting Manitoban Christians to join her in praying for the country.
TAIKA rugby brings youth teams together for Jamboree in Steinbach
TAIKA Rugby welcomed young athletes to their home turf this past Saturday for a rugby Jamboree.
Coach Isi Masi shares that youth teams from across Manitoba came out for the event.
“I think it was about over 100 kids that showed up. We had a couple of teams from Winnipeg, Portage, and Dauphin, and then we had our own kids in Steinbach, which we started two weeks ago.”

Blast from the Past: first-ever Khedive Car & Tractor Show this Sunday
Roughly 50 kilometers west of Weyburn along Highway 13 and just before Highway 6 is the small town of Khedive. In the middle of Khedive stands a massive, beautiful brick building which was once the Khedive Public School. However, since the school's closure back in 1976, it has stood mainly dormant.
Farmers fed and fields busy thanks to Seed N Feed
After more than five inches of rain delayed the start of the season, Grant Palmer of Palmer Enterprises Corp. and his crew are back in the field and pushing to finish seeding by the end of the week.
“It’s going good,” Palmer said. “We got back at it Monday and hope to wrap up by Sunday night.”
Road Closure-Main Street South-Thursday May 29th
A southern section of Main Street in Humboldt will be closed to traffic on Thursday, May 29.
The area between 2nd and 4th avenue of Main Street will be closed to abandon an old watermain.
A detour will be set up to guide traffic around the closed-off area.
Work is expected to last for one day.
