SaskPower: Prioritize safety this seeding season

As seeding season begins in Saskatchewan, SaskPower is reminding everyone to stay safe when working near power lines.

Last year, there were 262 farm-related incidents involving power infrastructure, a slight decrease from 268 in 2023, according to SaskPower. Most of these incidents occurred in the spring.

"Safety at SaskPower is our number one priority. So, if we can share the message with farmers and other large equipment operators working in the fields this spring, we're absolutely happy to do it," said Scott McGregor, spokesperson with SaskPower.

End of an era: Gravelbourg water tower decommissioning begins

After standing strong for 96 years, the water tower in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan is being torn down starting this week.

As of August 19, decommissioning and dismantling began. The tower is expected to be completely removed before the start of the school year. The decision was announced on August 8 in a press release from the town of Gravelbourg due to ongoing leaks and other structural issues.

"Heartbreaker Loss" for Moose Jaw Miller Express in game three of Championship

The Moose Jaw Miller Express just fell short of a Western Canadian Baseball League Championship for 2024.

On Saturday, August 17, the Miller Express faced the Okotoks Dawgs in game three of the Championship series. With the series tied at one apiece, the winner of this game would become champions.

The Dawgs would gradually build up a lead through the first four innings with three runs. Moose Jaw would answer at the top of the fifth to tie the game at 3 - 3. However, the Dawgs would steal back the lead at the bottom of the fifth with one run.

Moose Jaw’s Young Stars: 7 Kids Joined The Junior Rider Cheer Squad!

The Saskatchewan Roughrider Junior Cheer Squad had some Moose Jaw ties for 2024.

This year there were 300 spots for the Junior Rider Cheer Camp for young women aged 5 - 16. The squad held a walk-through on July 28 with the official Saskatchewan Roughrider Cheerleaders. Then on August 3rd at a Roughrider's home game, the junior team put their newly learned skills on the field during a halftime performance.

Participants in the Cheer Camp learned to Dance, Baton, Cheer, and more. Here is the full list of members from Moose Jaw.

Moose Jaw Miller Express Fall to Berries in Game One

The Moose Jaw Miller Express is now in the second round of the Western Canadian Baseball League playoffs, and the first match-up against the Saskatoon Berries was one-sided.

On Sunday, August 11, the Moose Jaw Miller Express hit the road for their first game of the second series against the Saskatoon Berries. The Miller Express were coming off a 2 - 0 sweep of the Regina Red Sox in round one and looking to maintain their momentum.

The Moose Jaw Miller Express are moving on to round two of the Western Canadian Baseball League.

Moose Jaw won game one on the road Wednesday night with a score of 4 - 3. Game two of the first-round match-up ended with a Moose Jaw Miller Express victory over the Regina Red Sox on Thursday night at Ross Wells Park.

Moose Jaw Events Centre Ice Ready For 2024-2025

The Moose Jaw Event Centre has laid down the ice for 2024 and 2025.

On July 31st the Moose Jaw Events Centre took to Facebook to announce that the rink was ready to go for the coming hockey and skating season. Work began on July 29th, with Ice techs from 15 wing, City of Swift Current, White City, Lumsden, Whitewood and the MJEC, taking part in arena operations training throughout the two-day process.
