Emergency vehicles, evacuation drills and livestock containment will unfold across parts of Crossfield and Rocky View County on Thursday, May 8, during a full-scale emergency management exercise.

Canadians are heading to the polls today to vote in the federal election, with polling stations open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. across Alberta.

Air 106.1 will have full coverage of the results Monday night, with updates every 15 minutes once polls close at 7:30 p.m.

A local community leader will join live in the Plumbing and Heating Paramedics studio to provide commentary, insight about what they hope will be beneficial to Airdrie and what they hope to see once the new leader is elected. 

At the latest Rocky View Schools (RVS) Board of Trustees meeting, trustees decided to keep the majority of school fees unchanged for 2025/26.

"The Board of Trustees of RVS encourages schools to offer a diverse range of engaging opportunities that support students in exploring interests and learning new skills, while thoughtfully balancing any associated costs to families," stated RVS

Airdrie residents accustomed to receiving their Canada Carbon Rebate (CCR) on or around the 15th of the month may be surprised to see no deposit thus far this month. The final payment is still coming, just later than usual, and it marks the end of the quarterly program.

Crossfield residents could be affected by a clawback of rural carbon rebate payments after the Canada Revenue Agency confirmed the town falls within Calgary’s metropolitan boundary.

The CRA said it conducted a review of the supplement in 2024 to ensure individuals living outside of Census Metropolitan Areas were receiving the correct payments.

Crossfield didn’t win Kraft Hockeyville’s grand prize. It got something else entirely. Late Saturday, the town got a call no one expected.

Chinook’s Edge School Division will be launching flexible learning opportunities for families.

"Starting in September 2025, families who are not currently registered in Chinook’s Edge will be able to enroll their children in the flexible learning program, supported by Chinook’s Edge teachers," stated Chinook's Edge.

The program is designed for Grades 1 to 8 students and offers families a choice between two learning pathways.
