Firefighters wanted: Crossfield accepting applications
The Crossfield Fire Department has opened up its recruitment process.
Bill Messner, the Crossfield Fire Chief shared they are looking for firefighters who live in and outside of Crossfield, as you don't have to live in the town to become one.
"The goal is to just increase staffing levels to aid in support of further fire protection for the town. I hope to add 10-12 firefighters, but it depends on applicants."
He went on to talk about some minimum requirements they have including standard first aid and CPR.
Local fire department wants to empower prospective female firefighters
The Crossfield Fire Department aims to empower women and encourage more to join its ranks through Camp Empower, a program scheduled for later this month. This initiative offers prospective female firefighters valuable insight into becoming a firefighter.

Neighbouring school division offers new dual credit course
Chinook's Edge students can now enroll in a new dual credit course. Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) is offering kinesiology to dual-credit students for the first time.
"Chinook’s Edge has 12 students enrolled, along with other students from two other K-12 school divisions. The Kinesiology course is offered mostly online and in asynchronous classes, supported by staff at the school level," stated Chinook's Edge.
Beiseker Lions Club makes significant donation to STARS
The Beiseker Lions Club has made another donation to STARS (Shock Trauma Air Rescue Services), this time for $28,000.
For patients who are seriously ill or injured, STARS, a non-profit helicopter air ambulance organization in Canada, offers quick, specialized emergency care and transportation.
The funds were raised through their annual Beiseker Lions Club STARS Golf Classic. Alan Balson, Secretary of the Beiseker Lions Club, talked about how it went.
