RVC warns: White daisies could cause a problem

Rocky View County (RVC) is letting residents know that any white daisies you see in Alberta are not a native plant species and could pose a threat.

"While some varieties are available in gardening stores, it’s important to be cautious about what you plant. Two highly invasive species, Oxeye daisy (Leucanthemum vulgare) and Scentless chamomile (Tripleurospermum inodorum), are both listed as noxious weeds under Alberta’s Weed Control Act, shared RVC."

Airdrie Minor Hockey issues statement after local man charged with sex offences

A man listed as a referee assignor with Airdrie Minor Hockey Association's website has been removed from his role after being charged with multiple sexual offences.

In a written statement to Discover Airdrie, AMHA President Pat Stachniak confirmed that 47-year-old Rodney Reisner — previously identified by RCMP as an Airdrie resident — “has served as a referee assignor for several years,” but clarified that while his name appeared on the AMHA website up until Wednesday mid-morning, he did not hold an official position within the organization.

Airdrie man charged with multiple sexual assaults; Rocky View Schools confirms previous teaching roles

Rocky View Schools has confirmed that a staff member who has not been assigned to any RVS school since late 2023 has been charged with multiple sexual offences following an RCMP investigation. The 47-year-old Airdrie resident, Rodney Reisner, remains in custody pending a Judicial Interim Release Hearing.

RVS Superintendent reflects and is grateful ahead of retirement

Greg Luterbach is thankful for his experience at Rocky View Schools (RVS) as Superintendent, with his retirement just around the corner.

Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills MLA ready to serve riding

Tara Sawyer, the Member of Legislative Assembly for Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills, is excited to serve her riding.

Sawyer is a farmer and business owner who lives near Acme. She has served as Chair of Grain Growers of Canada and Alberta Grains, becoming the first woman elected to both roles.

"I'm excited and I'm humbled and honoured at the trust that the people of the riding are putting in me, I don't take that lightly, so I'm looking forward to working on their behalf."
