A fee for paper billing is coming to Diamond Valley

The Town of Diamond Valley is going towards paperless billing.

The utility bills get sent out every two months in Diamond Valley, and Town Council had approved a new utility rate for both water and sewer consumptions, which will take effect January 1st, 2025.

They will also be moving away from paper bills and switching over to digital billing.

High River Dog Show will help an animal rescue 

A new dog show in High River this weekend will help raise funds for an animal rescue.

The organizer and emcee of the dog show, Bethany Willoughby, says this dog show will help raise money for a local animal rescue foundation.

"The event is planned to get the community involved and be able to interact with one another, do some fun with their pets. But also allow for an opportunity to raise some money for the Heaven Can Wait Animal Rescue Foundation," Willoughby explains.

Willoughby adds that this isn't like a typical dog show that can be watched on TV.

Clothing found along a rural road leads to homicide charge

A 61-year-old Vulcan County man is facing a second-degree murder charge.

At around 11:14 a.m. on Tuesday (Sept. 17), the Oyen RCMP say they were sent to a location where ‘personal effects and clothing’ were found in the tree line alongside a rural road.

Local police deemed the situation suspicious and called the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit to overtake the investigation.

After some searching near the area, Mounties found the body of a 28-year-old woman from Lethbridge.

The RCMP say they have arrested and charged Garry Brown with second-degree murder. 

Flames and Blue Jackets will continue to honour Gaudreau brothers

The Calgary Flames and Columbus Blue Jackets fans showed their appreciation for the late Gaudreau brothers with memorials outside of both teams' arenas following the brothers' tragic passing.

The Flames announced that the memorial site outside of the Saddledome will put each item and message to great use.

The numerous signs, messages, and chalk, have been photographed and will be provided to the Gaudreau family as "an everlasting digital memory book from Flames fans".

A Fall Turkey Supper for hundreds is now only a few weeks away

Homemade pies, turkey, gravy and all the Thanksgiving fixings are coming to a community hall near you.

The 15th annual Davisburg Turkey Supper is scheduled for the Sunday before Thanksgiving on October 6th, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Volunteer Alandra Corrigan says they expect hundreds of people for the incredibly popular fundraiser.

'Don't shop, swap' at the Okotoks Winter Clothing Swap

The Town of Okotoks is hosting a Winter Clothing Swap event this weekend.

It's a chance to save money and resources while also being environmentally conscientious ahead of the colder months.

The clothing swap will take place at the Environmental Education Centre, and people will be able to swap or shop for gently used winter clothing, shoes, and accessories.

It's scheduled for Saturday, September 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

All sizes of clothing for men, women, and children are accepted.

UPDATE: Multi-vehicle collision near Okotoks holding up traffic on Highway 2

Traffic was tied up on Highway 2 east of Okotoks on Thursday (Sept. 19) after a multi-vehicle collision.

It happened in the northbound lane at the intersection of Highway 2 and 338 Ave.

Traffic crawled along as emergency crews responded and cleared the scene.

It's no been reopened, and no major injuries were reported.
